What is Hexagon TaskCentre?
Hexagon TaskCentre is a task scheduling tool that provides alerts, report distribution and process automation.
The graphical task scheduler allows the user to define the automation process, tasks are either scheduled on a time basis or triggered by an action in the database. A task will then execute by interrogating the database, creating an output and then processing that output.
What can TaskCentre be used for?
Typical uses of TaskCentre include:
- Automated Exception Reporting – Notify someone by email if a certain event occurs in the database (e.g. a bank account balance going below a certain value).
- Automated Document Distribution – Issue reports periodically without manual intervention (e.g. customer statements, supplier remittances as a result of a BACS payment run).
- Automated Posting – Post transactions automatically according to set rules (e.g. future event bookings will be posted to deferred income; when the date of the event occurs TaskCentre will automatically detect this and post a journal to transfer the appropriate bookings from deferred income to income).
- Automated Web Updates - Regularly update a web-site with information from a database.
TaskCentre allows complete flexibility of use, as each task is defined to customer requirements.

TaskCentre is simple to setup and maintain
An example of its application is demonstrated as follows:

Create and Name the new Task from the main Task Window. From here all tasks can be seen that are currently configured and when they were last run. Then, using the Task Design window and the Tool Browser, actions can be selected to build Tasks and configure them accordingly. |

Finally, the Task is run and it will generate the required output. Tasks can be run manually whenever necessary to produce the output, or more importantly, can be scheduled to run automatically by a set frequency as required. |
